name of the forum : Crevettes-mante (Mantis-shrimps)

Description: For those who don't know this animal, it is a stomatopod, it looks like a terrestrial mantis (from which it's common name comes) because their pair of anterior legs are very similar.
Some species have a "hammer " on these legs that allowed them to crash to pieces their preys 'shell or carapace, others have some sort of harpoon to transpierce and catch them. The power of shock it makes is the same as the one of a little fire arm's bullet in much less than half a second, which makes this animal a relatively dangerous one.
However, as many predators, it shows an incredible inteligence and a natural curiosity for everything that surrounds them, even outside the tank it is placed into.

Squillas have been hated, scorned, judged as vermins in a reef-tank and eliminated as much as possible! But they are fascinating and intelligents animals which we must respect. Today, many aquarist are looking for one to breed, but we should distinguish serious aquarists whose first goal is to observe their animal's behaviour and give them the best living conditions they can, and those who only want a fighting animal, a "killer" play with and to show videos of unfair and crual fights that end with the crual death of the prey.
They have to be well fed of course, but it can be done without making suffer other animals.

The goals of the forum is to put together as much information as possible about mantis shrimps, to try to inform people about the reality of this animal which suffers a very bad reputation, to join together peopol who maintain one or would like it in order to improve everybody's knowledges thanks to all your experiences, and finaly, to help the future new mantis-shrimp's owners.
